Humans, Time, and Experience
An algebraic relationship
NOTE TO THE READER:
This was written a couple of years ago, but simply wasn’t distributed. Today I am allowing myself to publish this article in its original form. All this to say, my current style of writing has evolved. Regardless, I hope you enjoy!
What is it to be human? That is the kind of question I like to ask. What does it mean?
To speak about being human, one could speak about the physical attributes that humans have. Like, humans have arms, and legs, and a tongue, and fingers, and so on. Maybe it would be accompanied by an image or a drawing. But the problem with that is that we humans are really good at creating replicas of ourselves. I’m sure you’ve seen photos of people, but would you call that photo a human? We’ve become great at creating avatars that traverse video game universes. Would you call those avatars humans? So then, to speak about humans, I would propose we speak about the experiences that we have and not so much the way we look.
Experiences that humans have are typically spoken about beginning with time and place, followed by an event that unfolded, and whilst injecting emotions and feelings behind words. Generally this is to have a connection with someone else. Here’s an example of a story of an experience I had when I was younger. “Back when I was ten, I had a birthday party at the park. When it was time to open gifts, one of my best friends gave me a wrapped present. I was so excited to see what kind of gifts would be given to me, the new ten year old. When I opened the toy, I saw it was an action figure from one of my favorite TV shows! However, after inspection I saw that the box stated, ‘For children ages 7-9’. I was so offended at the gift that I verbally abused my friend and afterwards we stopped speaking and we lost touch. I wonder where he is now.”
Any of these sentences would not be a story, nor an experience on their own. What makes this an experience? What makes this a memory? What kind of a story is this and what is the purpose of telling it to someone else?
Considering time,
Time is the allower of all things. If I wanted to take a drink of water, for example, I would first have to reach for my glass, raise it to my lips, and then tilt it slowly for the water to move towards a lower area (my mouth). However, for this action to occur I must literally TRAVEL THROUGH TIME. If there was no time, then there would be no traveling, and that action therefore would not exist. So, in another frame of thinking about it, without time this action had both happened and not happened simultaneously.
All actions, words, thoughts, vibrations, are all relative to time and how it is perceived. We as humans perceive time linearly. We are time travelers in a forward moving direction. Time allows there to be a distance. Distance is only relative when time is around. Speed is seen as distance over time. I’m traveling at 5 miles per hour. Those are again, just units of measurement. But 5 miles is only 5 miles when it can be traversed. Otherwise, it would all be superimposed on all things. So perhaps, the Big Bang did not create matter, perhaps all matter and energy had always been, but perhaps the Big Bang created time. The ability for matter to be separated from other pieces of matter needed time to actually happen.
Therefore, We humans are time travelers. We are time experiencers, and in a way we could even be seen as time creators. For without one to experience time, there would be no time. There would be no experience, and again, there would be no one.
If one were to make the assumption that time was linear, then there would also be the assumption of a beginning and ending of time. If one were to be able to see time as a whole (beginning, middle, and end), then it would be seen as a solid and again, all matter would be superimposed upon itself. The time that is needed for a spaceship to travel from earth to Mars would not exist. The trip would have concluded before it began. Again, this is speaking of time as we can perceive it. Linearly.
Therefore as a linear being, we can also assume that we are also able to have accomplished all things already. Failure is the inability to follow through with the task at hand. To let a task remain incomplete. For example, this writing that you are reading has already been written and never was written. The only difference between the two was my determination to travel through time and complete the task. The reason you have the writing is because a series of events starting at the Big Bang, transpired and you’ve reached this point of reading these symbols and hieroglyphics on the page. Again, all of this is relative to time and how it is perceived through your eyes.
A vibration would not be a vibration if there were no time.
Experiences are all humans have and they are felt as time intervals between one experience and another.
So, let's consider some of the formulas that I have enjoyed pondering over. First, with some idea of basic algebra, we should find the relationship between certain numerical ideas (afterall the number 3 is the idea of 3) and we shall then replace numerical ideas with human concepts and metaphysical ideas. So, basic algebra tells us the relationship between: 3, 4, and 12 (for example). “What is the relationship?” one may ask. Let us take a look. 12 = 3 x 4. Which is to say, the idea of 12 can be expressed by 3 times the number 4. So, 12 = 3 + 3 + 3 + 3, or also 12 = 4 + 4 + 4. Simple, we all already know this. How fun was learning your times tables? Here are the relationships I would like to express. 12 = 3x4; 3 = 12/4; and 4 =12/3. Now, if we use the same idea of logic, found in this relationship equation we can speak about concepts I enjoy. The ideas presented are Experience, Human, and Time.
The idea of an experience is a truly human one. One may try to share their experience with you, but it is impossible to share the enormity of the experience with someone. Perhaps they can share images, or audio, video, and an accompany of thoughts and feelings about the event, but still it would pale in comparison to the actual event.
I would like to define Experience(s) as Human(s) over Time.
That is to say, Experience is experienced through time by a human. Here’s the equation for that.
Experience = Human / Time
And if that definition can be found there, then the relationship becomes clear (from an algebraic standpoint).
Time = Human / Experience
which is to say, Time is experienced through humans over experiences. And furthermore that
Human = Experiences x Time.
Therefore, both time and experience are related to humans just as humans are related to them both. If any of these ideas cease to be, then the others also cease to be as well. They must be interconnected. In which case, feel free to call yourself a time creator. An experience creator. As without you, neither could exist, and without either of those concepts, you would also not exist. Your importance can not be overstated, nor can it be understated.
I hope you enjoyed this thought!
