Gratitude for Light
Loving Change: Transience and Inherent Beauty
One of my pieces of writing was recently featured in a Substack Post “Communal Poetry: Week Twelve” from Vera. It was such a beautiful and unexpected surprise that it made me laugh and smile so broadly that I wanted to share it with you all!
Therefore, this post is going to be a bit of gratitude toward the host of the community, Vera, a shoutout to the Communal Poetry group itself, and also a place for readers to view my piece in a few different formats.
I hope you enjoy!
With all my love,

Vera and Communal Poetry - Taking Creative Acts and Turning them into Art!
I find one of the most beautiful things people can do is to shine light other’s success. To give appreciation, love, and gratitude for what has been created and shared. Within Vera’s “Communal Poetry” I found that this morning for one of my own pieces of writing along with some wonderful commentary!
While browsing through the submitted poems, I came across a magnificent piece sent by Awe. It ended up accompanying my morning coffee, giving me the chance to read it over and over again and think deeply about it-and I imagine you, too, will sense that this is a different kind of poem, one you’ll want to return to more than once.
…
Those verses tells me a lot about a way of living that is process-oriented rather than goal-driven, where meaning arises from presence rather than permanence. The figure of the Master–Fool embodies this stance perfectly- wise enough to recognize impermanence, playful enough to remain at ease within it. This consciousness does not cling to peaks, nor does it resist softness. It allows perfection to dissolve into perfection-moment by moment.
Seen through this lens, the new year does not arrive as a command to become someone else, nor as a deadline demanding resolutions we often talk about. It arrives simply as another movement within the larger rhythm, another season turning.
To have communities that shine light on work is similar to putting a painted canvas in a frame and finally place it up on the wall. That finished process is what Rick Ruben would call, “taking a creative act and making it art”.
In that way, I hope that we each find ways that we can take our creative acts and shepard them through the finishing stage. I hope that we can each continue to develop and create masterpieces and find places to let them shine!
Here’s to you Vera and here’s to your creation, “Communal Poetry”
For anyone interested in what Communal Poetry does here’s the description from Vera.
Each week, we’ll feature poems submitted by writers. These are not contests, and there are no winners. Instead, this is a communal space for listening, witnessing, and being heard. Every poem will be an invitation to enter another person’s world and, through that, to reflect on your own.
Here, I aim to bring it into community, into conversation, into visibility, into care. Every week, one or more poems will be featured, and we’ll spend some time reflecting on them, exploring the spaces they open.

Loving The World is to Love Change
In this section, I wanted to allow the featured piece to be seen in a few different lights. First, there is the substack edited typed version. Second, there is a photo of the origional writting in its first form (calligraphy within a journal). Finally there is a video of the piece being recited.
Enjoy!
Loving the world is to Love change.

Much of my writing tends to be done slowly, in calligraphy within a journal. Just sitting and waiting for words to come and then slowly and beautifully transcribing them down. I would highly recommend this style of meditation/writing it seems to yield great results!
The last part of the process is to enjoy a bit of nature. Find a soft place to sit, set up the camera and enjoy speaking out loud the words you’ve written down. This was done at Parque del Requerdos in Santiago, Chile.
In my life I also enjoy sharing the success of others. I’ve hosted writer’s meetings for over 5 years now (mainly in Santa Barbara but now also online via Zoom.) I can say it is always such a pleasure to be in an epicenter of creativity - to constantly inspire and encourage others along their own path is an immense joy! And to have places where work can be shown to others gives a beautiful bit of additional radiance to the process of creating!
If you would like to join my writer’s community, simply follow this link: Inspiring People. We currently meet on Sundays at 12pm PST. Bring work to share or simply enjoy witnessing the process!
Thank you for reading,
I hope you enjoyed!
